Early release of Xiaomi Mi Mi 5s and 5s Plus a few days ago, both of them went on to become a concern. Aside from carrying the latest features, the smartphone is also said to carry the company's newest and fastest chipset from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 821. But there was one question left for the public, where if Mi 5s actually carrying Snapdragon 821 chipset, why clockspeed owned only 2.15GHz.
As we know, a 2.15GHz clockspeed maximum clockspeed chpiset Snapdragon 820. This differs from the Mi 5s Plus which has a 2.35GHz clockspeed clockspeed which is reasonable for the Snapdragon 821. To solve the curiosity, someone had checked the device with popular applications, CPU-Z to confirm the truth.
This application shows the Mi 5s is using Snapdragon 821 chipset which also goes by the name of the model MSM8996Pro. However, the CPU is not the only thing under clockspeed should be, because the GPU is also under-clocked 624MHz instead of 653MHz which is owned by Mi 5s Plus.
Although Xiaomi Mi 5s may have a processor under-clocked normal, but it still has a higher speed than the models Mi 5, in which the Snapdragon 820 chipset only has a 1.8GHz clockspeed for basic models. I wonder what the reason Xiaomi decided to lower the CPU and GPU clockspeed on Mi 5s, but we can only assume that it was done by Xiaomi for the best reasons.
